Best 2 coaches in the NFL point-blank period. Especially when you are talking X’s and O’s. Rex thoroughly out-coached NFL’s Zen Master last year in the playoff’s but Bellichick could turn around just as quick this year. Its insane to think that for the next 3 years at least that both the Jets & Pats are top 5 teams that stuck in the same division. It makes for an even better rivalry. The Pats have won the division the last 2 years but the Jets have won 4 playoff games the last 2 years while the Pats haven’t won any. Last year’s win the Jets beating the Pats in the playoff’s proved that the Jets haven’t just gained ground on the Pats but they’ve surpassed them.
Now the Pats have built a team specifically designed to beat the Jets. Lets see if this happens. Either way Jets vs Patriots right now is probably sports best rivalry. Yes even better than Sox vs Yanks … even better than Bears vs Packers. The contrast and difference in personalities and styles between both head coaches … Rex with his bold statements, out-going personality, and moxi while BB is calm and reserved …. The owners even … Woody Johnson who’s a huge billionaire owner owner of one of the world’s most popular brand names in Johnson and Johnson and Robert Kraft who was a season ticket holder and a die hard Pats/turned owner. The fact that both teams are so evenly matched and have arguably 2 of the best in-game defensive minded Coaches of all time. Bellichick who spearheaded the defense of those great Parcells teams and Rex the son of the great Buddy Ryan who’s dad didn’t even let him use him as a reference when he tried to get into coaching (talk about hardcore) .. Jets & Pats fans will always hate each other and the teams will always hate each other more. There will always be more compelling angles to add to the rivalry. This year is Shaun Ellis going from Green to the Pats after playing over a decade for the Jets.
Bottom line however … just like you see in this picture … after the Jets whooped on the Pats last year to pull off a huge upset on the road … the RESPECT is finally mutual.
